Lynn University

Lynn University recently hosted the final 2012 presidential debate—one of the largest media events in the world.

The October 22 event produced $13.1 million in immediate economic impact for the Palm Beach County economy. Additionally, it was watched by nearly 60 million people across the globe and obtained more than $63 million in publicity value for Lynn and the community, including more than $50 million for the City of Boca Raton. An estimated 99.9 million people knew that the debate took place in Palm Beach County and an estimated 4.7 million adults said they “absolutely” wanted visit the area after watching the debate.

It also enjoyed substantial local support, generating approximately $1.7 million in elevated spending by local residents. Moreover, 86 percent of those surveyed at debate-related events said the debate brought positive attention to Palm Beach County and 89 percent felt the county should host more events like a presidential debate.

Lynn did not do this alone, but coordinated preparation efforts with several community partners to ensure the world saw Palm Beach County not only as a world-class destination but as a community that can come together to do great things.
